Questionnaires

Questionnaires are printed on the published reports for each survey. Electronic versions are available online as follows.

All questionnaires of NFRJ surveys were originally written in Japanese. We have English translations for some of these questionnaires: NFRJ98, NFRJ-S01, and NFRJ03. Note that some of our Japanese questionnaires included questions originally translated from English (e.g., Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression scale in NFRJ98 questionnaires). Which we translated back to English.

NFRJ-08Panel

NFRJ-08Panel surveyed Japanese people born in 1936-1980 (aged 28-72 years in 2008).

We prepared two types of questionnaires in each WAVE, depending of respondents’ marital status:

NFRJ08

NFRJ08 surveyed Japanese people born 1936-1980 (aged 28-72 in 2008). We prepared three types of questionnaires, depending of respondents’ birth cohort:

  1. questionnaire for young respondents (born 1961-1980, aged 28-47) in 24 pages
  2. questionnaire for middle-aged respondents (born 1926-1955, aged 48-77) in 24 pages
  3. questionnaire for senior respondents (born 1926-1955, aged 48-77) in 19 pages

Most questions are common across the three questionnaires. However, each questionnaire contains special questions specific to some lifestages.

NFRJ03

NFRJ03 surveyed Japanese people born 1926-1975 (aged 28-77 in 2003). We prepared two types of questionnaires, depending of respondents’ birth cohort:

  1. questionnaire for young respondents (born 1956-1975, aged 28-47) in 19 pages
  2. questionnaire for middle-aged or senior respondents (born 1926-1955, aged 48-77) in 18 pages

Most questions are common across both questionnaires. However, the former has special questions about marriage, childbirth, and childcare. The latter has special questions about relations between older parents and thier children.

NFRJ-S01

NFRJ-S01 surveyed Japanese women aged 32-81 in 2001.

NFRJ98

NFRJ98 surveyed Japanese people aged 28-77 in 1998. Questionnaires are splitted to two versions:

  1. the general questionnaire (19 pages) for respondents aged 28-57, and
  2. the special questionnaire (25 pages) for senior respondents (aged 48-77)

Pages 1-19 (Q1-Q31) are identical for both of the two versions. While the former version contains only these 19 pages, the latter have additional questions (Q32-Q37) on pages 20-25.

The PDF files are the special questionnaire for senior respondents. You can obtain the general questionnaire by deleting the last six pages.

Results Publication

In the next year of each survey, the first report was published, which includes the survey outline, results from basic analysis, and basic documents for the survey. Then the projects have continued analyses to publish the second report and books based on NFRJ data.

As well as the project members, secondary data users have analysed data and have published results as journal articles, books, conference presentation, and so on. NFRJ office has collected information of published works based on NFRJ data:
